It’s still my favorite.

In November 2018, my first novel, Meadow Song, was released, fulfilling my dream of becoming a published author.

I loved my story about an artist, a little girl, and the little girl’s uncle, which I first imagined as a short story for a contest but grew into a contemporary Christian romance novel. And I loved the challenge of combining setting, plot, and characters into a coherent and plausible book.

Meadow Song is a story of love, loss, and second chances. Although it’s a sweet romance, it deals with some of life’s difficult issues.

Mourning the death of her fiancé, artist Kate Greenway moves to a new town to escape the memories of Tim. A year later, she again takes up her paint brush. While painting beside a meadow, she meets young Blythe Chambers and her uncle, Jack Chambers. Kate is ready to move forward with her life, but Jack resists commitment. When Kate returns home to care for her ill mother, will she ever fulfill her dreams in art and love? Will Jack overcome his fear and realize that life without Kate will be his greatest loss?

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, creating beauty in broken things. The key verse for Meadow Song is Isaiah 64:8. God is our Creator. Kate uses the image of the potter with clay to define how God takes our brokenness and forms us into someone even more valuable to Him.
