Renaissance
The soft spring air, the gentle breezes,
The scent of damp earth and newly-mown grasses,
The glimmering lake, diamond-sparkling water
Reflecting blue sky, budding trees on the shore.
The worms and ants and grubs in the earth
Wriggle and scurry and squirm with mirth.
The birds warble and whistle their songs of love.
And showing their dresses of green, yellow, and red,
Daffodils and tulips awake in their beds.
Spring brings hope of renewal to all.
Refreshing wind, the breath of the Spirit,
All nature a song of the Father’s care,
Reflecting His beauty in form and in color-
A song to fill my heart without fear.
Reflecting the hues of the sunrise at morning,
The pure, soft perfume of the shimmering air,
My heart, as it sings with the sweet birds’ choir,
Renewed from within by the love of the Savior,
In hope of the heaven and earth recreated-
Spring’s expected release from soul’s winter’s despair.
