Meet Some Friends from A Heart’s Journey
When you look up the meaning of “journey,” you’ll probably find it described as traveling from one place to another, or something similar.
We may take many kinds of journeys in a lifetime, depending on who we are, where we live, what we want to do, and where we want to go. I’ve traveled to other states, and I flew to England for a term abroad as a college student. Family vacations meant taking trips by car to visit relatives and friends.
When we travel by automobile, we use a GPS to direct us. When we miss a turn, we may be told to turn around or directed to take a series of turns that sets us back on the right road, at least we hope it does.
Although it’s a cliché to say this, life itself is a journey, during which we take many road trips from one place to another to achieve our goals or become what God intends for us to be. Sometimes there are detours that take us in unexpected directions, to unexpected places, not always bad. Having friends with us can make the journey more fun or more bearable.
Haleigh Abbott, in A Heart’s Journey, returns to Greenlawn so she can get back on the right road to finding the purpose for her life. Seeking renewed friendships and forgiveness for past mistakes, she’s challenged to trust God and allow Him to direct her.
Nancy Morgan and her six-year-old son, Timmy, are Haleigh’s neighbors in Greenlawn. Nancy works at the nursing home in Greenlawn. Her husband, Sam, is a soldier stationed in a war zone.
Timmy is proud of his dad and misses him. He loves his mom and tries hard to be the man of the family. Timmy’s active puppy, King, is featured in the story. Haleigh uses her dog training skills to help Timmy obedience-train King. He takes training his dog seriously. Because of their mutual love of dogs, especially black ones, his bond with Haleigh is almost immediate.
Timmy is the tow-headed boy in the photo.
Haleigh makes extra effort to be a friend to Nancy, and all is going well until…well, something unexpected happens.
