I’m not an official “quilter,” but I make patchwork quilts. How many of you remember the story of “Polly Patchwork” and how her patchwork dress helped her win a spelling bee? I make quilts because it’s a way to use fabric scraps left over from sewing projects. Some scraps do come from other people.

When I look at the quilt squares, they often evoke memories of people and events. The patterns remind me of flower gardens and creation. Our lives are filled with patterns, shifting and changing. At times the changes are fun and exciting, at other times they are painful and sad.

I love to see the intricate patterns some quilt makers use. Some quilts are true master pieces. People are God’s master pieces.
