I imagine that today was a day of reflection for most Americans. As I viewed the replay of the fall of the Twin Towers and the ceremonies commemorating the event and those who died, I wondered  about the renewed feelings of anger and resentment displayed this year.

I am glad the Qur’an-burning did not take place. I’m also glad that the demonstrations against the mosque remained calm and did not interfere with the time of remembrance at Ground Zero. But the hurt and bad feelings have not gone away, and the absence of trust is obvious on both sides. I wonder if complete trust will ever be possible.
