A retreat, a week away from news broadcasts and newspapers, a time of relief from the constant pressure of everyday life – a week of vacation. We all need it, a time away. Last week my retreat consisted of a writer’s conference and a wedding. Connecting with friends. Meeting new friends and spending time learning new things.
It’s not that I don’t care about what’s happening in the world every day. I do. Lost children, war, drilling in the ocean – they all affect me and those I love in some way. The needs of our world are so great. As stewards of God’s creation, we all have the responsibility of caring for the people and places around us. Hopefully, my time away will give me a fresh perspective, and I will be better able to deal with life.
In a couple of weeks, my husband and I will be traveling to Texas to visit our daughter and her husband. Did you know there are Yankee fans in Texas?
A great first post Beth! Keep it going. You’re a blogger now. 🙂 I agree completely. One of the best things that has ever happened in my life, in only the past couple of years, is giving up television. I still get news, but by giving up TV I’ve gotten back large chunks of my life.
MCWC was a great time of renewal for me personally. Meeting people like you and Frank was a real highlight for me.
Keep blogging!
